Tempe (Ariz.) Corona del Sol forward Marvin Bagley III is one of the most hyped players in the country, but the sophomore isn’t letting the attention get to his head.
“It’s not hard at all to ignore,” Bagley said. “I am thankful that people notice what I am doing and like the way I play the game, but I just have to keep working.
“I can’t let that stuff get to my head, so I am just trying to stay humble and thank god every day I wake up for putting me in this position.”
Not only does Bagley ignore the hype, but he also isn’t paying much attention to his recruitment either.
“They all are colleges and he is only a rising sophomore, so we don’t address it too much,” Marvin’s father, Bagley Jr. said.
“When the time comes we will put more energy into it, but right now those are schools and he is way too far away from that. We need to focus other things like getting better and working on different things.”
Bagley realizes he is one of the top players in the nation, but also sees room for improvement.
“I don’t like being put in one area,” he said. “I feel like I can do everything on the court and I want to be on a team that will allow me to show it.
“I need to work on everything. Just tune up all the little things I need to work on and keep getting stronger.
“That is pretty much all I am doing. I want to come back a better player next year.”
