Hyattsville (Md.) Dematha Catholic guard Markelle Fultz is one of the highest rated 2016 UA recruits. He recently got back from visits to multiple Pac-12 schools, and his advisor, Keith Williams, had some thoughts.
“Markelle had a good time on the visit to Arizona,” Williams said. “He went around the campus with Sean and some of the assistant coaches.
"They then talked about how Arizona saw him playing in their system. They think Markelle is a guy who is good with the ball in his hands.”
Other heavyweights are wooing Fultz as well.
“Louisville has been great," Williams said. "The visit was very good and informative. They are as good a program as there is in the country.
"Pitino is as successful a coach as there is in college basketball. Plus he plays a style of basketball that kids want to play for. They are all over the place. A Louisville game is always up and down.
“It was nice to finally get that Kentucky offer. We’re looking at them hard right now. It wouldn’t surprise me if we went back to the campus at some point."
Another Pac-12 school is also in the mix.
“Washington is a school that we have always been serious about and they’re starting to bring in the players, but they need more ball handlers," Williams said.
"Markelle would fit in well there and Romar is a great guy and somebody who saw Markelle early in the process.”
At this point, the recruitment looks to be winding down.
“We’re going to make a decision by the first part of September," Williams said. "This is going to be over soon.
“This past summer has been a great time for Markelle. He worked hard to get to this point and really fashioned himself into a primary ballhnadler.
"To be at the point where he can basically name his college is a real testament to the kid’s hard work.”
