Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez recently implied that the Wildcats were still struggling with depth on the defensive side of the ball and because of that, a few newcomers would likely be asked to play right away.
Although the current depth chart likely does not have any of these players, there are more than a few that have emerged as guys that will see snaps early.
One such player is defensive lineman Anthony Fotu, who has really been coming on strong lately. In fact, when asked to name the player he has been the most impressed with, senior defensive end Reggie Gilbert was quick to name Fotu.
Arizona has been sorely missing a dominating pass rusher and although that could be asking a lot from Fotu, the hope is that he can at least provide consistency.
In addition, Sammy Morrison has seen some reps at first team corner. It will be hard to unseat sophomore Cam Denson, but Morrison is at least making a push and should see playing time regardless if it is as a starter or not.
