Staff Predictions: UA vs. Washington State

Arizona plays Washington State on Saturday and we make our picks.

Michael Luke: It is hard to argue that this isn't Mike Leech's best team at Washington State. Quarterback Luke Falk looks different than previous Cougars' quarterbacks, and, somewhat surprisingly, this team can run the ball.

With some of the uncertainly at quarterback for Arizona, it feels that Washington State is the team with the momentum going into this game.

This is going to be a high scoring affair, but I look for the Cougars to get on the board one more time than the Wildcats.

Washington State 37, Arizona 31

Overall: 7-0

Cody James Martin: This game is a tough one for me to call because I think Washington State is finally on the rise. MIke Leach's offense is more balanced this season and the Cougars only losses have come to incredibly tough teams, Cal and Portland State.

In the end, I think that Arizona is in a much better placed than it was two weeks ago. This game is going to come down to which team can string together a few defensive stops and I think Arizona has a better chance at doing that with the home crowd behind it.

Arizona 38, Washington State 35

Overall: 7-0

Jason Scheer: Washington State has beaten an Oregon team with one of the worst defenses in the country and...Rutgers? I'm not saying the Cougars are bad, but this feels a lot to me like a team that isn't as good as its record may indicate.

Arizona doesn't really have an impressive win either, but it will be playing at home and has a strength in its run game that Washington State likely isn't stopping.

Arizona 42, Washington State 35

Overall: 6-1
