Arizona comes from behind to defeat Gonzaga

Arizona had to mount a comeback to defeat Gonzaga on the road. Read on for a complete recap.

Arizona played poorly in the first half, but mounted a comeback in the second to defeat Gonzaga 68-63 on the road.

Domantas Sabonis scored to open the game and Gabe York answered with a layup. Dusan Ristic then scored, but Kyle Wiltjer nailed a three. Sabonis and Ristic exchanged baskets and Gonzaga took a 7-6 lead into the media timeout.

Wiltjer made two free-throws and York scored off a turnover. Wiltjer then hit a three and two to force Arizona to call timeout down 14-8.

Parker Jackson-Cartwright got on the board and Chance Comanche made two free-throws. Sabonis and Elliott Pitts then exchanged buckets as Gonzaga led 16-15 with 10:30 left in the first half. 

Sabonis and Wiltjer scored before Sabonis added another basket and Arizona called timeout down 22-15.

Wiltjer made a three and another two before Ryan Anderson made two free-throws. Ristic hit one of two, but Ryan Edwards got a basket. Mark Tollefsen and Eric McClellan proceeded to both make buts and Gonzaga led 30-20 with 3:53 remaining in the half. 

Sabonis scored, but Allonzo Trier responded. Wiltjer and Josh Perkins then got a basket, but Trier did the same and added two free-throws. 

Wiltjer answered with a bucket and Trier scored his eighth consecutive point to cut the lead to 38-28 going into the half.

Wiltjer scored to start the half and Ristic quickly responded. York then exchanged threes with Wiltjer. 

Mark Tollefsen got a dunk, but Sabonis scored. York proceeded to hit a floater and long three to cut the Gonzaga lead to 45-40 with 16:13 left. 

Anderson scored and Sabonis did as well. Perkins added a three-point play, but York hit a three, Trier a jumper, and York another three to tie the game at 50 with about 13 minutes left. 

Edwards made two free-throws and Anderson scored. Wiltjer and Anderson both got a bucket before Wiltjer and Ristic did the same and tied the game at 56.

Perkins made one of two free-throws and Trier got in the lane and scored. Jackson-Cartwright made a jumper, but Wiltjer responded.

Sabonis and Anderson then exchanged buckets and Arizona held a 62-61 lead with 5:34 left. Jackson-Cartwright made a free-throw and Trier scored as Anderson soon added another one from the line.

Wiltjer then scored, but a basket by Anderson put the game out of reach.
