Wildcats pick up easy win over NAU

Arizona defeated NAU 92-37 on Wednesday night. Read on for a complete recap.

NAU was overmatched from the start as Arizona defeated the Lumberjacks 92-37 on Wednesday night at McKale.

Dusan Ristic made one of two free-throws and then scored in the post. Ryan Anderson made two from the line and Kadeem Allen hit Ristic for a dunk as the Wildcats went up 7-0 at the media timeout.

Ako Kaluna put NAU on the board with a three and Jaleni Neely made a free-throw. Mark Tollefsen then hit one from the line and a shot by Anderson extended the Arizona lead to 11-4. 

Kris Yanku and Anderson exchanged baskets before Marcus DeBerry made a three. Yanku then hit two free-throws and Ristic responded with one of his own. An offensive rebound by Tollefsen proceeded to put the Wildcats up 16-11 with 8:30 remaining in the first half. 

Parker Jackson-Cartwright and Isaiah Thomas exchanged baskets before Tollefsen made two free-throws.

Neely made a three, but Allen responded with a three-point play. Anderson then made two free-throws and added a layup.

Allen got in the lane and scored as Neely made two free-throws soon after. Anderson and Trier both got buckets before Yanku and Tollefsen exchanged hoops and Arizona held a 35-20 lead with 2:34 left in the half. 

Felix Rivera-Vega made two free-throws, but Tollefsen scored. Yanku then got a bucket and the half ended with a three from Tollefsen that gave Arizona a 40-24 lead at the half. 

Anderson started the half with a jumper and Trier followed with a three and dunk to extend Arizona’s lead to 47-24 less than two minutes into the second half. 

Ristic added four consecutive points and Yanku and Anderson both scored as Arizona went up 53-26 at the media timeout.

Gabe York scored his first points of the game, as did Chance Comanche. York then hit his second consecutive three before Rivera-Vega scored. Justin Simon and Tollefsen both scored and Trier added two free-throws to give the Wildcats a 67-28 lead with 11:36 remaining. 

Trier scored and Allen added two free-throws. Anderson then got a bucket before Neely made two from the line. Simon went one of two, but Rivera-Vegas made a three. A shot by Tollefsen then put Arizona up 76-33 with 7:13 left.

Jackson-Cartwright and Tollefsen made two free-throws and Simon scored four consecutive points before a basket by Comanche gave Arizona an 86-33 lead.
