Despite a late comeback by Arizona, a three-pointer by Bryce Alford with less than two seconds with enough to win as the Bruins defeated Arizona 87-84 in Los Angeles.
Isaac Hamilton opened the game with a three and Bryce Alford scored. Kadeem Allen got his first bucket, but Alford matched it. Dusan Ristic then scored to cut the UCLA lead to 7-4 at the media timeout.
Gabe York made a layup out of the timeout, but Aaron Holiday scored five consecutive points. Ryan Anderson then got on the board, as did Kaleb Tarczewski.
Thomas Welsh scored an easy basket and Anderson responded. Holiday then scored and got another basket on a steal.
A three by Mark Tollefsen proceeded to bring the Wildcats within 18-14 with just under 11 minutes left in the half.
Jonah Bolden scored on a baseline dunk and Justin Simon scored with from the free-throw line. Holiday got another bucket, as did Simon.
Anderson and Tony Parker proceeded to exchange buckets, as the Bruins led 24-20 with eight minutes remaining in the first half.
Noah Allen scored and Alford got a bucket before Ristic made a shot. Parker and Allonzo Trier exchanged hoops, but a shot by Tarczewski and three by Parker Jackson-Cartwright brought the Wildcats to within 30-29.
Holiday picked up a three-point and Tarczewski made two free-throws. Jackson-Cartwright made another three, but Parker came back and hit two consecutive shots.
Ristic then scored, but Alford closed the half with two three-pointers as the Bruins led 43-36.
Anderson started the half with two free-throws and Parker hit two as well. Trier made two from the line, but Welsh hit a jumper.
York made a three and Welsh hit two free-throws, as Alford hit a three off of a turnover and gave UCLA a 53-42 lead at the media timeout.
Hamilton made a three and Parker scored in the paint. Ristic and Holiday exchanged baskets. Jackson-Cartwright and Trier then scored to bring Arizona within ten.
Anderson scored, but Jonah Bolden his an open three. Anderson and Alford then both got a basket as UCLA led 64-53 with about 11 minutes left.
Trier made two free-throws, but Alford scored in the lane and Hamilton hit a three. Two free-throws by Anderson then put Arizona down 69-57 with 9:20 remaining.
York made a three, but Prince Ali made two free-throws. Hamilton and Tarczewski proceeded to exchange baskets, but Arizona was still down 11 with six minutes left.
Holiday made a three and Jackson-Cartwright got fouled and made a free-throw. Tollefsen rebounded the second free-throw and scored.
Alford was then fouled and made both free-throws and Trier scored a quick layup. Alford and Tollefsen then exchanged threes and UCLA led 81-71 with 3:29 left.
Allen made two free-throws and Parker scored off the glass. Tarczewski then got a dunk and a three by Trier cut the UCLA lead to 83-78 with under two minutes remaining.
Allen got a dunk and proceeded to pick up a three-point play to tie. York then fouled Hamilton and he made one free-throw for the one-point lead with 17 seconds left.
A free-throw Anderson tied the game at 84 with ten seconds left, but he missed the second and UCLA called timeout.
Alford then got open off a screen and hit a three with 1.8 seconds left that won the game.
