Allonzo Trier out 4-6 weeks with hand injury

Allonzo Trier is out 4-6 weeks with a broken metacarpal in his shooting hand. Read on for the latest.

Freshman Allonzo Trier will be out 4-6 with a broken fourth metacarpal in his shooting hand. The injury occurred with four minutes left in regulation of the USC game and adrenaline allowed Trier to finish the game, which included four overtime periods.

Sean MIller released the following statement:

“When an injury occurs to one of our players, the first priority is his wellbeing. I am disappointed first and foremost to see a great young man like Allonzo suffer an injury. He was playing the best basketball of his young career at Arizona.

"Allonzo has worked tirelessly every day since he arrived on our campus. Hopefully he will be able to rejoin us at some point this season and continue his improvement and development as an outstanding player.”

Arizona will likely turn to freshman Justin Simon for increased minutes while also increasing the playing time of Mark Tollefsen. Still, this injury will be difficult to deal with as you can make the case that Trier was playing the best basketball on the team.
