Top junior to make unofficial visit

Arizona is still trying to fill their spots from the high school class of 2002, but may be on their way to filling a piece of the 2003 puzzle. A highly regarded junior is taking an unofficial visit to the campus, and may just be offered a scholarship. To discover who this blue chipper is, read on…

David Padgett, a 6-10 big man from Reno(HS), Nev will be visiting the Wildcats Sept. 22 on an unofficial visit. Arizona hopes to add a big man from the class of 2003 and may have targeted the talented Padgett.

Lute Olson and other Wildcat coaches were seen in attendance at many of Padgett's summer camp games. Padgett played for the Pump ‘N Run squad, which included Richard Chaney, a player recruited by the Wildcats until he verbally committed to Utah last month.

Padgett is a prototypical big man with nice moves around the basket. Although he runs the floor, he isn't the most athletic of players at this point. He has great hands, rebounds very well, and passed out of the post fairly well for a player his age.

Padgett is also thought to be considering Stanford as well. UCLA is also showing interest in the big man. Padgett was one of the players who visited the Westwood campus during July, resulting in UCLA getting into some hot water with the NCAA for illegal contact.

Arizona hopes to add a center and a combo-forward from the 2003 class. Harrison Schaen, a 6-8 forward from Santa Ana (Mater Dei), Calif., is thought to be a player that the Cats could pursue for that other front court spot in 2003.
