Arizona has received a commitment from former California linebacker Michael Barton, who will be eligible right away to play one season as a Wildcat.
Barton had a rough junior season due in large part to injury, but he was one of the better linebackers in the Pac-12 during his sophomore season.
In fact, Barton led Cal with 80 tackles as a 2014 sophomore while also finishing with 7.5 tackles for loss, both career highs.
He lost his starting job in training camp, and he finished the regular season with 25 tackles and an interception in nine appearances.
"We support Michael, and are proud of the hard work and dedication he has put in at Cal, both on the field and in the classroom in order to be on track to graduate from Cal next May," Cal head coach Sonny Dykes said in a statement late Wednesday night. "We wish him the best of luck and look forward to watching him continue his academic and athletic career."
