The only real drama for Arizona on Signing Day is whether or not Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne wide receiver Devaughn Cooper would wind up at Arizona State.
The three-star athlete took an official to Arizona State this past weekend and seemed genuinely conflicted about a decision.
"It's going to be difficult," Cooper said after the visit. "It's kind of hard to answer it. I'm not really sure.
“Every community was nice and every school was nice (of the three). I like all the options, but I'm not really sure what I'm going to do.”
In the end, however, Arizona’s appeal was too much.
“They have been awesome to me from the beginning and they have always told me how much they want me to come there and play the wide receiver position,” Cooper said.
"They play so many wide receivers that even if there are some good guys in front of you, there still are other receiver positions that I will be able to play.
“Plus, there are young quarterbacks there and another guy coming in, so the talent will be around me.”
Cooper is confident that he will be able to make an immediate impact at Arizona.
“I make plays," he said. "That’s what I do. Our team did do amazing things this season and we got to where every other team wants to get to.
"When I get into college I want to get on the field as quickly as possible and make some plays.”
