One of the newer recruits on Arizona’s board going into Signing Day was Canton (Mich.) Plymouth Canton linebacker Jalen Cochran.
On Wednesday, Cochran proved Arizona did more than enough.
The 6-foot-4, 234-pound three-star has signed with Arizona over Miami of Ohio, Michigan State, and Iowa State.
Arizona wasn’t even in the picture when Cochran was getting ready to announce in mid-January.
“As of right now it’s just those two,” Cochran said of Iowa State and Miami of Ohio. “After my Iowa State visit I’m going to take some time and see what school I want to pick.
“As of right now it’s between those two. I’ve been talking to other schools, like Arizona and Michigan State on and off, but as of right now it’s those two.”
Arizona was able to convince Cochran to take a visit to Arizona this past weekend and made quite the impression, leading to a commitment.
“The visit to Arizona this past weekend went really well,” Cochran said. “Coach Rich Rod and the defensive guys like Coach Yates are all really good guys and coaches that I can see putting me in spots where I sack the quarterback.
"They want to have the kind of scheme where there are long defensive ends who can bend past the tackle. I liked the campus as well. Everything on the visit just felt really was good. I felt a lot of good vibes coming out there.”
