Despite not having a plethora of scholarship offers right now, Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian Academy 2017 lineman Logan Gunderson is the type of player with the flexibility to indicate big things are in his football future.
“I’m going to be playing both ways next season,” Gunderson said. “On the defensive line I’m gong to be playing a lot more in the B and C gap, so I’m trying to improve my strength and my ability to hold up against double teams and what not because I know they are coming.
"A lot of that goes hand in hand with good linemen, so it’s things like that I’m working on."
The 6-foot-5, 310-pound lineman also knows what he wants to work on as an offensive lineman.
“On the offensive line, I’m going to have to focus on staying on my blocks longer," Gunderson said. "I’m excited to play both positions though because having that knowledge will help me.”
Expect Gunderson’s recruitment to pick significantly in the next few months.
“I’m going to try to take as many visits here as possible," he said. "There are a lot of places that haven’t offered me, but still want to go there for Junior days, like Florida. Impressing Florida would be really cool."
Florida certainly is not the only school recruiting Gunderson.
“Besides Florida, the schools I’m hearing from the most are Georgia Southern, USF, North Carolina, and Arizona," he said. "The Arizona coaches have been tweeting me trying to get me to get down there, which I would like to do. I’m just not sure when.”
