Arizona is building one of the best classes in the country and on Monday the Wildcats added another piece with the commitment of 6-foot-4, 200-pound Raleigh (NC) Word of God shooting guard Rawle Alkins.
In a similar recruitment to Kobi Simmons, Alkins actually removed Arizona from his list in September, only to later add the Wildcats back on.
Arizona never gave up on Alkins and he made it clear that he started to have legitimate interest in Arizona in December.
Fast forward to his commitment, and Alkins had already taken an unofficial and official visit to Tucson.
He went on his official visit to Arizona having visited UNLV and St. John’s recently, but the Wildcats continued to make a strong push.
With the commitment, what kind of player is Arizona getting?
“Alkins is a classical Northeastern guard, one who loves to physically punish defenders and then serve them seconds,” Scout.com writes.
“He’s a prolific scorer who excels in transition when he can accumulate a head of steam, yet he also possesses impressive athleticism.
“He's a superb rebounder for a guard and a top-notch defender, underscoring his rugged style."
