A name that Arizona football fans have been hearing a lot lately is Newbury Park (Calif.) 2017 athlete Chris Brooks.
Brooks recently visited Arizona and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he garnered more attention in the coming months.
“Nothing has really changed on this end,” Brooks said. “It’s pretty much the same schools, but Purdue and San Diego State are coming on pretty hard and I think I could probably be getting an offer from them here pretty soon."
As Brooks looks at the schools recruiting him, position will play a major role in his decision.
“The main thing I want is to go to a place that has a plan for me to play in the slot," Brooks said. "That’s why I like Arizona so much. The coaches know what I can do and they have a plan for me in the slot.
"Maybe just as importantly, there is track record of guys excelling at that position. I’m in pretty steady contact with them and it’s a place that I could see playing at for four years.”
While it initially looked like Brooks could make an early commitment, this no longer appears to be the case.
“I felt for a while that I could commit at any time, but the more offers I got and the more time I have to look at things, I just don’t want to limit my options," he said.
"Plus, the longer I think about it, I really want to be a sports analyst at some point and I want to find a good fit for that. All that said, Arizona is still a school that really impresses me.”
