Covina (Calif.) Charter Oak 2017 wide receiver Brian Casteel has one goal on his mind right now: improving his game to the point where he can make an immediate impact at the next level.
“I’m just training for football it seems day and night,” Casteel said. “We’ve got practice gearing up, so I just want to be totally ready to excel whenever I hit the field, but I’m already thinking about playing in college as well.
"I see games on TV and I see myself all the time playing on TV in front of everybody.”
Multiple Pac-12 schools would love to give Casteel the opportunity to earn early playing time.
“I was just at Arizona and Arizona State," he said. "Both places were cool. The atmosphere was very upbeat and the guys seemed to all be having a good time.
"I kept an eye on the wide receivers and it looked like both teams have a pretty group of guys back there. I got a good vibe watching the interactions and it seemed like everyone was on the same page.”
The most pass-happy offense in the nation seems to be a wildcard in Casteel’s recruitment.
“Washington State also wants me to visit and I would like to, but I’m just not sure about the cost right now," Casteel said. "I want to get up there.
"Coach Leach has an amazing track record for developing wide receivers. I mean, everyone catches for a ton of yards. It’s awesome that they think I can play in that.”
