Not only is Mesa (Desert Ridge) 2017 pass rusher Jalen Harris one of the most talented players in the state of Arizona, his father Sean is one of the best linebackers in UA history.
Arizona hosted Jalen this past weekend and he enjoyed his time.
“Tucson is a cool city and it’s a good time getting to talk with the coaches and walk around the campus some,” Harris said. “It definitely doesn’t hurt that my dad was a good player at Arizona.
"I’ve heard a lot of the stories and obviously things are different, but Arizona is a good team most years."
Arizona's history with Harris will certainly help.
“It’s not a huge factor, but I know they would treat me well," he said. "I’m still going to go to the place that will make me the best player.”
With so much untapped potential, it wouldn’t surprise if Harris begins to hear from the some of the elite programs in college football.
“That would be awesome," he said. "I’m trying to improve everywhere, especially against the run. This past year has been big for me.
"I’ve put on some size and just learned more about the game. Playing other sports has helped me athletically, but football is my game.”
This recruitment doesn’t figure to end soon.
“I don’t plan on deciding before my senior season," Harris said. "There is so much that I don’t know. I’m going to give myself as much time as I need.
“I’m completely open. I’m excited for this summer and I think I’m going to show a lot of people and coaches that I can play for their teams.”
