Sabino High School 2017 athlete Drew Dixon dominated the Tucson high school football scene this past season and his performance wasn’t a surprise.
“I’ve seen my game take over the past couple years,” Dixon said. “I’ve continued to grow and get stronger and this past season it seemed like everything was moving at a slower place.
"I have really good coaches and they are always telling me that I can be a good player in college, but I have to put in the work.
“I have kind of a reference too because my high school has produced some pretty good players and everybody knows who they are. It would be a major accomplishment to be in that conversation.”
Arizona's pitch to Dixon has been clear.
“I like Arizona," he said. "The new staff is cool and they’ve told me they want to keep the Tucson kids home.
"They think I can play in a couple of roles. Most coaches recruiting me either see me as a wide receiver, athlete or quarterback, and I’m open to all."
It appears that two more schools could be close to getting involved.
"Washington is going here soon and that has honestly been a dream school for me," Dixon said. "The fact that they are even recruiting me is amazing.
“I’m also going to go to an Oregon camp this summer and if I could catch their eye that would be great. Either way, I probably won’t decide on a team until after the summer.”
