There isn’t a faster rising 2018 west coast prospect than Encino (Calif.) Crespi Carmelite point guard Brandon Williams and, if Arizona has its way, he will become the first 2018 prospect to pledge to the Wildcats.
“The teams that are recruiting me now are Arizona, UCLA, USC, Cal and Grand Canyon,” Williams said. “I’ve been to Arizona twice now and it was a really fun experience each time."
One of Arizona's main draws for Williams is Sean Miller.
"Coach Miller seems like a real player’s coach and a guy that makes his players better and lets everybody know what is expected of them," Williams said.
“I really like that he was a point guard and seems to be a coach that still sees the game from that viewpoint.”
Every California school figures to try its hardest to sign Williams.
“Being that I’m only a sophomore I figure that I have a lot of time to continue to improve, but the fact that a lot of the big schools are already interested in me is very flattering," Williams said. "I’m going to visit USC soon, but I don’t have anything scheduled after that.”
Williams claims to have a set date for when he will declare his college decision.
“I plan on announcing my decision November 22 in 2017," he said. "I guess I could announce earlier but I don’t see it right now. I have some pretty good teams that really like me and I haven’t even hit on the academic part yet.
"My family is all about grades. That’s not just a statement. It means everything and I’m not going to any place that doesn’t understand that.”
