Eugene (Ore.) Sheldon 2016 offensive lineman Cody Shear was in Tucson this past weekend and Arizona did everything possible to impress the mammoth offensive lineman.
“What a fun time that visit was,” Shear said. “Seeing that and talking with the coaches was a ton of fun and Coach Michalczik is a great guy who knows the game inside and out. They think I have the kind of strength and size to be a good fit on the line."
In addition to the coaching staff, Shear enjoyed the campus itself.
“I was also really impressed by the campus itself," Shear said. "The facilities were good, the school is beautiful and it was an easy place to see myself playing at. Also, the academics are good.”
Two other schools are in the picture as well.
“I have a visit to Oregon State then Washington State and after that I will announce my choice on July 5," Shear said.
"Washington State is going to be a fun visit. Coach Leach has things going on up there and what player wouldn't want to play in his offense.”
Nonetheless, Shear isn’t forgetting what got him to this point.
“The big things right now are continuing to get stronger and working at my burst off the ball," he said.
"Over the past couple years I’ve noticed that things are coming a lot easier for me on the field, but I think that’s because I’ve put in so much time in the weight room and been working on technique.”
