Wildcats make cut for Johnson

Sacramento (Calif.)  Luther Burbank 2017 pass rusher D.J. Johnson made some waves in the past week by announcing his final list of 10 schools. 

Looking every bit the part of a future NFL player, Johnson figures to be talented enough to make a quick impact at the college level.

“I narrowed my list down to Miami, Oregon, Michigan, Oklahoma, Arizona, Utah, Arizona State, Clemson and Washington,” Johnson said.  “It’s a group of schools that have some traditional powers, some up and comers, and all have coaching staffs that I like.”

Johnson is especially impressed by Arizona’s new look coaching staff.

“I like Arizona because the coaches are pretty upfront with me, the atmosphere is fun and the program just looks like they are going places," Johnson said. "The future seems bright. I’d like out get out there.”

One of the most ferocious pass rushers in the nation, Johnson is looking for a school with a track record for developing players with similar skills.

“I want go to a place that lets me use my instincts to attack the ball," he said. "I can certainly play in any system, but what makes me really good is my ability to attack and explode after the ball carrier.

“I’m going to give all these school a chance. I don’t have any visits set up right now, but these schools are all on the list for a reason.”
