It’s long been rumored that Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral 2017 defensive lineman Hunter Echols would decommit from UCLA and he recently did just that
“It was a tough but necessary decision to re-open my commitment,” Echols said. “I still like UCLA a lot. I really do, but I feel that I needed to give myself every opportunity to find the right school for me.
"I mean, some of the best teams in the country really like me and I didn’t give myself the opportunity to look at things like that before."
Echols recently visited Arizona and has a few more places in mind.
“I don’t know the exact dates of every place I’m going to visit, but I’m going to visit Notre Dame soon," Echols said.
"I’m going to Nebraska for their first game of the season and there are some other places too. I’m going to travel to as many places as possible”
Arizona likely has a solid chance at landing Echols.
“I talk to the UA coaches all the time," he said. "Coach Donte is the guy that everyone wants to talk to. He is on me all the time talking football, talking life, just all kinds of things.
"Coach Rodriguez is on me all the time. I will for sure be out there to visit. Arizona is high on my list.”
Making things easier for schools recruiting Echols is the fact that he won’t be committing anytime soon.
“The next time I’m going to make a decision will be at the Army All American game," he said. "That is what I probably should have done from the beginning.”
