La Mesa (Calif) Helix forward Miles Norris is one of the most coveted big men in the 2018 class and much of that has to do with his improvement over the last year.
“I feel like I have improved a lot since last year,” Norris said. “My strengths are running the floor and finishing above the rim.
“I want to improve my ball-handling, jump shot, and playing more physical. I have been working on my shot all summer, so I am getting more comfortable with it.”
Norris’ is guaranteed to see his recruitment pick up and is already hearing from a variety of schools.
“Oregon, SDSU, Arizona, Cal, and Oklahoma is picking it up,” he said. “North Carolina, Duke, Gonzaga, and UNLV have also been calling.”
Arizona is already a major player in Norris’ recruitment.
“Arizona is very aggressive,” Norris said. “I talk to Coach Pasternack as much as we can. They tell me I am one of their top prospects and I am getting to know the coaches better.”
As of now, Norris has preliminary plans to visit two schools and knows what he will be looking for at each.
“I am going to visit Arizona for the Red and Blue game and then I will probably visit Oregon,” he said.
“I will be looking for a school I am comfortable at. I want to get along well with the coaches both on and off the court.”
Norris currently does not see any reason to rush his decision.
“I will probably decide after my junior year,” he said. “I’m not sure when I will cut my list or anything like that.”
