Apple Valley (MN) 2018 point guard Tre Jones knows he is one of the best point guards in the country, but still takes time to appreciate the recruiting process.
“Recruiting is going well, but I am taking it as slow as possible and trying not to skip any steps in the process,” Jones said.
“Not every kid gets this opportunity. There are a lot of kids out there that are striving and working every day just to get one offer and to have multiple offers and to be able to go through this process is a blessing.”
Jones currently has six offers, including one from Arizona.
“I have a strong relationship with Arizona and we are trying to make it as strong as we can, whether that is on the phone or texting,” Jones said.
“I’ve visited Arizona before and it’s a beautiful campus. I went in the middle of February and it was 88 degrees and just a beautiful place to be.”
Arizona’s pitch to the five-star point guard is clear.
“Coach tells me that he is trying to get to his first Final Four,” Jones said. “They have knocked on the door a few times in the past couple years, but they have not broken through that door. They feel I can help do that.”
As Jones goes through the process, he knows what he wants in a school and when he will be able to sit down and make a decision.
“I am looking for a strong program with a really good education,” Jones said. “I want a great campus to live on and I will be looking at style of play.
“I want to take visits, but I am not sure where yet. The plan as of now is to make a final decision next summer, but no earlier than that.”
