Rich Rodriguez discusses numerous topics with the media after Monday's practice.

* For possibly the first time all camp, Rich Rodriguez was not happy with how the Wildcats practiced on Monday.

"I didn’t think it was our best," Rodriguez said. "We got as lot of work in and probably got better at some points, but I thought it was the first time in camp we looked a little soft and that is what I told the team. We have to correct that for tomorrow."

* Arizona's defensive line is a major question mark, but Rodriguez is hoping for solid production from Sani Fuimaono.

"He’s lost weight and is in great shape," Rodriguez said. "He looks like he is ready to play a lot of plays. I hope we don’t have to have any D-lineman play 70-80 plays, but Sani is in good enough shape to do that.

"I don’t think we are deep enough or big enough yet, but we have good enough guys to win with. We just have to play really hard."

* Dane Cruikshank is expected to start at one of the corner spots and Rodriguez is happy about the depth in the secondary.

"He’s a competitive guy," Rodriguez said of Cruikshank. "He has great size and good athletic ability. He has had a pretty good camp. I don’t know who our starting corners are going to be, but we have a lot of bodies there, more than we’ve had in the last several years."

* Wide receiver transfer Zach Benjamin has had a nice camp, but has yet to find out if he will be eligible this season.

"I haven’t heard anything," Rodriguez said. "It is kind of disappointing. I would like to see that get moving pretty quickly. It seems ridiculous a guy walks on and is not eligible and he is paying his own way, but we’ll see."
