Jason Scheer: Clay Helton has shown that he does not prepare USC well for road games and USC’s best back is hurt. Sam Darnold only has one road start, against Utah, and it was the weakest of his three starts.
In other words, there’s some reason for optimism if you’re Arizona. However, there’s also plenty of reason to think USC will win this one easily.
Arizona isn’t anywhere near as big or fast as the Trojans are and as we have seen this season, the team is basically good for a half before that catches up to it.
I’m guessing that’s the case on Saturday as well. Arizona keeps it close in the first half, but Adoree’ Jackson makes Arizona’s horrid special teams pay and that’s all she wrote.

Ben White: While USC has had their fair share of struggles since appointing Clay Helton as head coach, the Trojans looked like the team to beat in the Pac 12 South last week and I see that carrying over into this game.
Freshman Sam Darnold has played exceptionally well since taking the helm as the starter and given his mobile abilities, Arizona’s defense is unlikely to generate enough pressure to slow down him down.
With that being said, if Arizona can make a conscientious effort to eliminate the run and stop Ronald Jones I give them a better chance than most.
In all, injuries and lack of depth will continue to haunt Arizona and USC’s explosive wide receivers will be just too much.
USC 28, Arizona 17
Cody James Martin: I went back and forth on this game and it is mostly because both teams have been incredibly awful this season. Both teams have played below expectations so far and are battling through plenty of injuries.
Arizona has struggled due to the lack of depth and talent on the roster while USC has struggled due mostly to coaching. I really think the game could go either way, but when in doubt, go with the team that has more talent.
USC 31, Arizona 24
Michael Luke: Without the assurance of a healthy Nick Wilson or JJ Taylor I doubt that I will pick Arizona to win another game this season. Maybe Oregon State, but I would favor Arizona's opponent in every other game.
That said, and I like Brandon Dawkins and think he's a Pac-12 championship caliber quarterback, but Tate needs to be the man from here on out. He has natural progression and throwing style that is unique to this roster.
As far as the game goes, USC has much better players and should win easily.
