UA uses late run to defeat Northern Colorado

Arizona defeated Northern Colorado on Monday night. Read on for a complete recap.

It was too close for comfort, but Arizona defeated Northern Colorado 71-55 Monday night at McKale.

Ibrahim Sylla scored the first points of the game and Rawle Alkins then hit a three. Chaz Glotta hit one from behind the arc and Kadeem Allen made a jumper.

A free-throw by Jordan Davis proceeded to put Northern Colorado up 6-5 at the media timeout. 

Lauri Markkanan and Davis hit two free-throws each before Allen made a three. Glotta hit a three as well and Chance Comanche scored.

After a bucket by Davis, Keanu Pinder came up with a three-point play. Kai Edwards and Comanche then exchanged baskets as Arizona led 17-15 with 11:40 left in the first half. 

Alkins and Sylla both scored before Roberto Vercellino hit a three. Markkanen matched it and two free-throws from Comanche gave the Wildcats a 24-20 lead with 7:19 remaining in the half. 

Edwards scored and Glotta hit another three to force Sean Miller to call timeout with the Wildcats down 25-24. 

Davis and Markkanen exchanged buckets, as did Edwards and Allen. Sylla and Markkanen both scored to end the half with Northern Colorado up 31-30. 

Alkins began the second half with a three-point play. After a bucket by Davis, Alkins made one of two from the line.

A basket from Davis then gave the Bears a 35-34 lead at the media timeout. 

Allen and Davis both made one free-throw before Comanche scored and proceeded to hit one of two from the line.

Glotta made a three, but Parker Jackson-Cartwright responded with a three-point play. Two jumpers by Markkanen put Arizona up 44-39 with 10:10 left. 

Davis and Jackson-Cartwright both scored before Markkanen made two free-throws. Glotta and Simmons exchanged threes and Jon’te Dotson came up with a three-point play as Arizona led 51-47 with 7:43 left. 

Markkanen scored and Davis made one free-throw. Jackson-Cartwright then made four free-throws in a row before Jonah Radebaugh and Dusan Ristic exchanged baskets.

Davis scored, but Ristic matched it and Arizona led 51-43 with 4:32 left. 

Allen scored off a steal and Jackson-Cartwright got a layup. Davis tried to keep Northern Colorado in the game with a layup, but Ristic scored on the next trip down court and Jackson-Cartwright made two free-throws to put the Wildcats up 69-55 with 1:17 remaining.
