Three-point barrage leads UA over Missouri

Arizona easily defeated Missouri on Saturday. Read on for a complete recap.

Arizona hit 13 three-pointers as it defeated Missouri 79-60 Saturday on the road.

Dusan Ristic scored to start the game and Kadeem Allen and Rawle Alkins both hit threes. A three by Cullen VanLeer then cut Arizona’s lead to 8-3 at the media timeout.

Alkins scored and Lauri Markkanen nailed a three as Missouri called timeout with the Wildcats up 13-3. 

Kevin Puryear scored, as did Chance Comanche. Russell Woods made two free-throws, but Allen hit a three.

Ristic and Kobi Simmons then exchanged buckets as Arizona built a 22-7 lead nine minutes into the game.

K.J. Walton made a free-throw and Simmons responded with a three. Willie Jackson scored, but Alkins responded with a free-throw.

Mitchell Smith scored his first points of the game and Terrence Phillips got two at the line. Alkins made a three and Phillips hit a free-throw.

Frankie Hughes then got a three-point play and cut Arizona’s lead to 29-18 with 7:09 remaining in the first half.

Keanu Pinder made a free-throw and Markkanen hit a three. Hughes made a three and followed with two free-throws.

Alkins scored, but Woods did as well and Arizona led 35-25 with about four minutes left in the first half.

Simmons and Puryear scored before Comanche and Puryear did as well. Ristic got a bucket, but VanLeer hit a three.

Woods scored and VanLeer made two free-throws as Arizona led 41-36 at the half.

Simmons scored to begin the second half, but Hughes made two free-throws. Simmons then scored again, as a three by Puryear cut the lead to 45-41 at the media timeout. 

Ristic made two free-throws and Smith hit one. Allen made a three and Jordan Geist made a free-throw.

Puryear hit two from the line, but a three by Alkins extended Arizona’s lead to 53-45 with 13:08 left. 

Ristic made two free-throws and Alkins hit a three to force a timeout with the Wildcats up 58-45. Out of the timeout, Simmons made two consecutive threes and Missouri had to call another timeout with Arizona on a 14-0 run. 

Allen made a three and Alkins scored before Allen scored again. Woods scored and Geist made two free-throws before Pinder and Markkanen scored.

A bucket by Smith then had Arizona’s lead at 75-51 with 3:45 left remaining.
