Although Covina (Calif.) Charter Oak wide receiver and Arizona commit Brian Casteel was never going to be coached by Donte Williams, the departure of the coach that recruited him hit hard.
“Honestly, it totally surprised me when Coach Donte left,” Casteel said. “I was very close with him and there was a natural connection there.
“He was the coach that everyone wanted to hang around. He was a cool dude and I was upset when he left to Nebraska.”
It may not have a relation to Williams leaving, but Casteel is leaving his options slightly open.
“I’m still committed to Arizona, but I'm going to look around a bit,” he said. “Places like Washington State would like me to visit and I know my coach is looking at some other places as well. We'll have to see. I'm not totally sure what is going to happen.”
What Casteel does know is what he wants in a future school.
“I still want to find the place that runs a receiver friendly offense and gets guys in the position to make a lot of plays,” he said.
“I still like Arizona, don't get me wrong. I am just making sure there isn’t a better fit for me out there.”
