New Mexico did not put up much of a fight on Tuesday night as the Wildcats easily defeated the Lobos 77-46 at McKale.
Kadeem Allen and Dusan Ristic scored to start the game and Lauri Markkanen got a three-point play. Ristic then scored again to put the Wildcats up 9-0 at the media timeout.
Rawle Alkins made a three and Tim Williams finally put the Lobos on the board. Chance Comanche and Williams then exchanged buckets.
Williams scored again, but Allen made a three. Elijah Brown scored and Kobi Simmons responded with a three to put Arizona up 20-6 with 10:41 left in the half.
Williams scored, but consecutive baskets by Allen and Keanu Pinder forced a UNM timeout with the Wildcats leading 24-8.
Allen made a three and Damien Jefferson scored. Markkanen then made two free-throws before Comanche got a basket.
Williams and Alkins proceeded to exchanged baskets as Arizona built a 33-12 lead with 3:56 remaining in the first half.
Pinder made a free-throw, but Brown scored. Simmons made one from the line and Alkins scored before two free-throws from Brown had Arizona’s lead at 37-16 going into halftime.
Williams and Comanche exchanged buckets to start the half and a three-point play cut the lead to 39-21 at the media timeout.
Simmons scored and Comanche had a three-point play. Brown made a three, but Pinder made two free-throws and Alkins made one of two.
Brown made two from the line before Markkanen made a three. Jordan Hunter made one free-throw, but a bucket by Markkanen gave the Wildcats a 52-27 lead with 11:39 left.
Comanche and Obij Aget scored before Simmons and Comanche did as well. Williams got a bucket, but Markkanen nailed a three.
Brown and Alkins scored, as Brown and Williams added another bucket each and Sean Miller called timeout with Arizona up 63-37 with over seven minutes remaining.
Brown and Simmons hit a pair of free-throws each and Harris got two of his own. Ristic scored the next trip down court and Allen made a free-throw as Arizona lead by 27 with about five minutes left.
