Dusan Ristic continued his superb play Thursday night as he scored 18 points to lead Arizona to a 66-56 win over Utah at McKale.
Kyle Kuzma and Lauri Markkanen scored to start the game and David Collette scored two straight buckets.
Dusan Ristic and Markkanen then responded, but Lorenzo Bonam scored and Devon Daniels scored to put Utah up 11-6 at the media timeout.
Chance Comanche and Collette exchanged buckets before Kadeem Allen scored. A three by Kuzma then put the Utes up 15-10 with 11:43 left in the half.
Kobi Simmons made a three and Rawle Alkins added a three-point play. A dunk by Comanche then put the Wildcats up 18-15 with 7:18 remaining in the first half.
Jayce Johnson scored, but Markkanen responded with a three. Daniels then scored and Markkanen made two from the line.
Daniels added a dunk and Simmons hit two free-throws as Arizona led 25-21 with just under four minutes left in the half.
Markkanen and Tyler Rawson exchanged baskets, but Ristic scored two consecutive buckets. Daniels and Ristic then scored before a basket by Barefield cut the Arizona lead to 33-27.
Parker Jackson-Cartwright proceeded to hit a floater to give Arizona a 35-27 lead at the half.
Markkanen and Collette exchanged baskets to start the half and Allen made a three. Daniels proceeded to score and Allen matched it.
Allen then went to the line and made both. JoJo Zamora hit a three and Barefield hit a layup before Comanche made a shot.
Barefield then made a three from the corner to cut Arizona’s lead to 46-39 with 13:09 remaining.
Simmons scored, but Collette got a three-point play. Barefield and Ristic then exchanged buckets and Arizona led 50-44 with 7:50 left.
Alkins made a free-throw, but a bucket by Zamora and Collette cut Arizona’s lead to three.
Arizona responded with four free-throws by Ristic and he then found Alkins for a three in the corner as the Wildcats built a 58-50 lead with 3:35 remaining.
Kuzma got a three-point play, but Ristic quickly responded with two more baskets as Arizona went up 62-51 with about two minutes left.
