Arizona holds off late Colorado rally

Arizona defeated Colorado 82-73 Saturday night at McKale. Read on for a complete recap.

Colorado made a late run, but Arizona held it off to defeat the Buffs 82-73 Saturday at McKale.

Dusan Ristic made one of two from the line, but George King hit a three. Wesley Gordon then scored and Josh Fortune did as well as Arizona called timeout down 7-1 less than three minutes into the game.

King made another three before Ristic came up with a three-point play. Xavier Johnson then added a three and Kadeem Allen matched it as the Buffs led 13-7 at the media timeout.

Lauri Markkanen made a three and Derrick White did as well. Gordon then scored before a basket by Parker Jackson-Cartwright cut the CU lead to 18-12 with 11:47 remaining in the first half. 

Markkanen made a three and Ristic scored before a dunk by Markkanen put Arizona up 19-18 and forced a Colorado timeout with 8:45 left in the half. 

Allen made two free-throws and King scored before Comanche made one of two free-throws to put the Wildcats up two. 

Allen proceeded to hit a three and an Alkins layup forced Colorado to call timeout down 27-20 with 5:41 remaining in the half. 

Alkins made two free-throws and Johnson scored a bucket. Soon after, he went one of two from the line as Colorado was within six.

Johnson made a free-throw, but Allen hit three. Allen then made a free-throw after a technical on Tad Boyle.

Ristic made one of two from the line and Alkins hit a three. Ristic got a bucket and Johnson made a three to end the half with the Wildcats up 39-27. 

Allen made a three to begin the half and Jackson-Cartwright hit two free-throws. A bucket by Ristic then had Colorado on the ropes, down 46-27 at the 17:16 mark. 

Gordon scored, but Markkanen picked up a three-point play as Arizona led 49-29 at the media timeout. 

Johnson and White scored before Ristic got a bucket. Johnson then made two free-throws and White added a bucket.

Markkanen made a three, but Tory Miller scored. Markkanen hit another from behind the arc and Simmons added a floater.

Gordon then scored five straight points as Arizona led 59-44 with 10:44 left in regulation. 

Collier made a three before Ristic scored. Miller and Alkins exchanged buckets, but Comanche and Simmons scored to put the Wildcats up 67-51 with 6:27 remaining.

Collier made a free-throw and Johnson hit a three. A shot by King then had the Wildcats calling timeout up 67-57 with 5:16 left.

Gordon made a three and Allen a free-throw. Gordon hit two from the line and Markkanen made one.

King scored and Jackson-Cartwright made two free-throws. Johnson and Ristic exchanged buckets before Jackson-Cartwright hit a jumper.

One free-throw from Alkins then pushed the lead to 76-66 with a minute to go.
