Arizona was sloppy on offense, but recovered well in the second half to defeat Washington 77-66 Sunday at McKale.
Kobi Simmons and Sam Timmins exchanged buckets to start the game and Lauri Markkanen proceeded to score.
David Crisp then got on the board and Markelle Fultz did as well. Matisse Thybulle made a three, but Kadeem Allen scored as the Huskies led 9-6 at the media timeout.
Fultz and Dusan Ristic both scored, but David Atewe quickly answered. A dunk by Chance Comanche then cut the UW lead to 13-10 with 11:35 left in the first half.
Fultz and Ristic exchanged buckets before a three by Timmins extended the Washington lead to 18-12 with 7:50 remaining in the half.
Markkanen made two free-throws, but Timmins scored. Fulta got a bucker and Comanche responded with one.
Noah Dickerson scored and Alkins went one of two from the line. Dickerson scored again as a basket by Kobi Simmons cut the Husky lead to 26-19 with 3:24 left in the first half.
Ristic made two free-throws and Dickerson matched it. Allen hit two from the line and a three by Allonzo Trier had Arizona down two.
Crisp made a three and Ristic scored in the post. Rawle Alkins proceeded to make one from behind the arc and Dickerson scored at the buzzer to give UW a 33-31 lead at the half.
Dickerson and Fultz scored to start the second half as Allen responded with a three. Sean Miller then called timeout with the Wildcats trailing by three.
Thybulle scored and Simmons hit a three. Allen then made one from the line and soon added a layup to put the Wildcats up 40-39 less than four minutes into the half.
Markkanen scored, but Fultz did as well. Ristic then got a basket on the offensive glass and Arizona went up 44-41 at the media timeout.
Alkins made two free-throws and Carlos Johnson hit one. Fultz then scored and Allen hit a free-throw.
A three by Alkins proceeded to put Arizona up 50-44 with just under 12 minutes left in regulation.
Johnson made two free-throws and Comanche got a dunk. Crisp made one from the line before a bucket by Fultz.
Simmons then scored and Markkanen hit a three to give the Wildcats a 57-49 lead with 9:38 left.
Trier made two free-throws and added another bucket. Timmins and Crisp then scored and Thybulle added a basket to hold Arizona’s lead at 61-55 with 5:19 remaining.
Ristic and Simmons both scored, but Timmins got one in the paint. Trier then added a dunk as Arizona took a 67-57 lead with 3:02 left.
Simmons made two from the line, but Thybulle hit a three. Crisp then made two free-throws and Markkanen and Crisp exchanged threes.
A free-throw by Trier proceeded to put the Wildcats up 73-65 with a minute left.
