Kicker Lucas Havrisik sees immediate role

Lucas Havrisik believes he can play right away. Read on to see why that is and more.

It’s not often that a kicker gets a full scholarship, but that’s exactly what Norco (Calif.) kicker Lucas Havrisik received from Arizona.

“I did not see the offer coming,” Havrisik said. “It kind of hit me out of nowhere and surprised me.

“Coach Ragle is the main coach I talk to. He tells me if I come in and work hard I can get the starting spot, which they want me to do on field goals and kick-offs.”

Havrisik had a few other options, but there were too Arizona had too many positives for those to overcome.

“I was hearing the most from UNLV and Portland State,” he said. “UNLV not as much, but Portland State was really on me.

“Arizona is pretty close to home, not too bad of a drive. I already know people and I fell in love with it when I went there. I also like the hot weather. There were a lot of factors to it.”

Arizona’s pitch to Havrisik is clear.

“They like me for my strength on kickoffs,” he said. “I had a good senior season with 90 percent touchbacks.

“I was 82 for 87, but four of them were onside kicks. They need help in that role last year and think I can come in and do that for them.”
