Arizona recently hosted 2018 Mt. Pleasant (Utah) Wasatch Academy wing Emmanuel Akot and less than two weeks later, the Wildcats have a commitment.
Akot visited Utah this past week and his recruitment came down to those two schools, but the Wildcats won out.
What type of player has Arizona now added?
“Akot is an extremely athletic and versatile forward who is improving at a quick rate,” his Scout.com analysis states. “He's got the size, length, toughness and lateral quickness to guard multiple positions on defense.
“On offense, he's a quickly improving shooter who can hit jumpers from midrange and three. Akot is a little better off the bounce than catch and doesn't yet have a consistent release but his mechanics aren't far off and absolutely could be a good shooter in time.
“He tends to be turnover prone but his handle and body control are playable and he's got terrific vision. Akot's upside is significant.”
Akot’s commitment does not come as a surprise considering how highly he has spoken previously about the Wildcats.
“They have a great coaching staff,” he said. “They produce NBA players and that’s where I want to go. They have five and four-star players, so that’s who I would be practicing against.
“Arizona is a basketball powerhouse. They send players off to the league and that's where I want to go. They have an offense where everyone gets to create and I like that.
“They have a culture there where they don't like to lose and I hate losing so that's another reason why I like Arizona.”
