Arizona outplays UCLA to advance

Arizona defeated UCLA 86-75 on Friday night. Read on for a complete recap.

Arizona had one of its most impressive performance of the season as it defeated UCLA 86-75 on Friday night to advance to the finals of the Pac-12 Tournament.

T.J. Leaf and Dusan Ristic exchanged buckets to start the game before Thomas Welsh hit two jumpers in a row.

Allonzo Trier then made a three and Isaac Hamilton did as well. Hamilton made two free-throws, but Rawle Alkins then hit a three.

Lonzo Ball and Lauri Markkanen proceeded to exchanged baskets as UCLA led 13-10 at the media timeout.

Trier hit a jumper and proceeded to add two free-throws to give the Wildcats a 14-13 lead at the 11:40 mark. 

Ike Anigbogu made a free-throw and Aaron Holiday added a three off a turnover to put the Bruins up 17-14 and force an Arizona timeout.

Markkanen made two consecutive threes before Leaf scored. Leaf then made one of two from the line before a three from Kadeem Allen gave the Wildcats a 22-20 lead with 7:38 remaining in the first half.

Trier scored and Markkanen made a three. Hamilton then got a three-point play and Bryce Alford made a jumper.

Leaf hit two free-throws before Comanche made one. A bucket by Ristic proceeded to give the Wildcats a 30-27 lead with 3:20 left in the half.

Anigbogu made two free-throws, but Allen scored and Markkanen got a bucket off the glass to force a timeout up 34-29.

Leaf made two free-throws and Trier then made one. Hamilton scored, but Parker Jackson-Cartwright hit a three.

Hamilton scored again and a three by Trier gave the Wildcats a 41-35 lead at the half. 

Markkanen and Allen scored to start the second half before Welsh made a jumper. Ristic then got a bucket and Leaf made two from the line.

Allen made two free-throws as well before Welsh went one of two. Alkins scored, but Welsh hit two more free-throws.

A bucket by Dusan Ristic then gave Arizona a 53-42 lead at the media timeout. 

Markkanen made a three, but Anigbogu scored. Hamilton got a basket before Trier made two free-throws.

After a basket by Holiday, Trier hit a three and Comanche got a dunk to put the Wildcats up 63-48 with 13:13 remaining.

Hamilton scored and Ball completed a four-point play. Trier made one free-throw and Alkins got a dunk in transition.

Alford then made a three, but Markkanen hit two from the line and followed it up with a three. Ball then made two free-throws as a shot by Ristic gave Arizona a 73-59 lead with just under eight minutes left. 

Leaf made two free-throws and Alkins hit one. Markkanen then hit two from the line before Leaf and Welsh scored.

Markkanen scored and soon hit a free-throw. Trier then made one from the line and a bucket by Welsh cut the lead to 80-67 with 3:25 left.

Markkanen and Holiday exchanged buckets before Jackson-Cartwright made a free-throw. Anigbogu then scored and Hamilton made two free-throws as the Wildcats led 83-73 with 1:30 left.
