SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Arizona scored a season high in points as it defeated North Dakota 100-82 Thursday night to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Quinton Hooker scored and Kadeem Allen made a free-throw. Rawle Alkins got a bucket, as did Lauri Markkanen.
Corey Baldwin made a three, but Alkins scored again. Baldwin hit another from behind the arc and Drick Bernstine got on the board.
Markkanen proceeded to score and Arizona found itself down 10-9 at the media timeout.
Markkanen and Hooker exchanged baskets before Parker Jackson-Cartwright made a three. Allonzo Trier then scored and a basket by Chance Comanche put the Wildcats up 18-12 with 11:50 remaining.
Bernstine made a free-throw and Keanu Pinder scored. Allen and Jackson-Cartwright proceeded to get a basket each as the Wildcats led 24-13 with 10:11 left.
Crandall and Kobi Simmons exchanged baskets before Bernstine scored. Crandall got another basket and Markkanen made two free-throws.
Hooker scored, but Markkanen responded with a three-point play to put the Wildcats up 31-21 with 7:52 left in the half
Markkanen scored, but Hooker hit a three. Markkanen connected on a three-point play and Alkins then scored.
Hooker and Alkins exchanged threes and Trier made one free-throw. Trier then scored, as did Bernstine.
Parker Jackson-Cartwright got a basket and Bernstine came up with a three-point play as Arizona led 46-31 with 3:38 left in the first half.
Hooker and Simmons exchanged baskets before Cortez Seales made a free-throw. Trier then hit a three before Bernstine and Comanche scored and Arizona led 53-37 at the half.
Hooker made a three to start the half and Dusan Ristic scored. Bernstine and Ristic exchanged buckets before Carson Shanks scored.
Alkins got a basket, but Baldwin made a three. Ristic proceeded to hit a jumper to put Arizona up 61-47 a few minutes into the second half.
Shanks made a free-throw and Ristic then scored. Bernstine got a bucket before Baldwin hit a three.
Alkins made a shot from behind the arc, but Crandall scored two straight baskets. Markkanen and Hooker exchanged buckets before a basket by Bernstine cut Arizona’s lead to 68-61 with just under 12 minutes left.
Allen got a three-point play and Jackson-Cartwright made a free-throw. Allen hit two from the line and then scored in transition.
Ristic proceeded to make two free-throw to put the Wildcats up 78-71 with a little over eight minutes left.
Hooker and Crandall made a pair of free-throws and Alkins made two of his own. Bernstine then made two, as did Trier.
Markkanen and Crandall exchanged buckets before Trier made two from the line. Hooker hit a three and Alkins and Seales exchanged baskets.
Comanche made two from the line before Trier and Shanks both scored and the Wildcats led 94-74 with under four minutes left.
