As a junior Ainge completed 177-311 passes for 2,559 yards and 15 touchdowns. He earned 1st team all-league and all-area honors for his efforts. He is also a basketball standout. He averaged 16 points, eight rebounds and three assists a game and earned all-area honors last year on the hardwood. His future appears to be on the gridiron though.
"My top schools are Arizona State, Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA, USC, Arizona, and Stanford. I really like all of the Pac Ten except for the Washington schools. I don't think I want to play in the state of Washington."
Erik has current offers from UA, ASU, and Oregon. Since last Monday night he has received calls from Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, USC, and Tennessee. Coach Mac called him for the Cats and he has also spoken with Coach Hecklinski.
"Coach Mac told me that I am one of their top prospects at quarterback."
Ainge has good things to say about the Cats program.
"I like the competition they face and I also like that they throw the ball a lot. They have a real young team."
Over the summer Ainge worked a lot with former Washington quarterback Taylor Barton on his arm strength and footwork. Besides those two things he feels that leadership is one of his best attributes. He expects to take most of his official visits in December after his season.
He carries a 3.96 core GPA and has scored a 1000 on his SAT. Ainge would like to major in Business or maybe Communications. He got his season underway over the weekend versus Century High.
