Star Texas Defensive Tackle has Cats in Top Four

Even more than the Cats need offensive lineman, they NEED defensive lineman. A guy like Kevin Mims from the Woodlands in Texas could be the answer to their prayers. "I think Arizona is rebuidling their team out there," Mims said. "That is what I am hearing. They have a good football tradition and also have nice academics. It will be good to get out there and research them when I attend the TCU game."

Mims has an offer from UA to go along with scholarship extensions from Northwestern, SMU, Baylor, Utah, Texas Tech, and Louisiana-Lafayette. His top four are Northwestern, Utah, UA, and Texas Tech.

"I like the academics at Northwestern and the football and academics at Texas Tech and Utah," he said.

All of the schools involved are recruiting Mims as a defensive end and defensive tackle. He has no preference on which position he ends up at.

"I just want to play," Mims said.

So far on the year Mims has recorded 10 tackles with six of them being solo, two sacks, and one hurry. His team is 2-0 and and preparing to take on Humble this Friday.

In addition to an unofficial visit to Tucson for the TCU game, Mims will attend the Texas Tech-Colorado game, and also a game in East Lansing, Michigan on October 25th.

"I think MSU is close to offering," Mims said. "Duke too."

Cat Tracks will keep tabs on Mims throughout the recruiting process and will catch up with him as soon as he gets back from the TCU game to get his impressions on the visit.
