On the loss at Oregon State:
"Offensively, we were disrupted, and we didn't have much of a flow the whole night. They really stuffed the line of scrimmage on us. I thought that we would run the ball better, but their defensive line was on top of us. They disrupted our pass game with blitzes, and Jason (Johnson) was trying to dodge one man and throw the ball all night. We just didn't connect, and we had some dropped passes."
On running back Ken Simonton:
"I expected that Ken Simonton would be one of their features. They were hoping to get him back on track, and he had 69 yards rushing by halftime. They used that to set up some play-action passes, and they exploited our secondary on their counter-routes."
On defensive changes:
"We played a lot of zone defense, and that helped us get those two interceptions. But, we didn't get behind the line very often, and we needed to do that. We didn't have any sacks, and we had very few tackles for loss."
On Wildcat miscues:
"The fumble really hurt because we gave them excellent field position in Arizona territory early in the game. The blocked punt was just a physical breakdown."
On quarterback Jason Johnson:
"I was going to change quarterbacks in the second half, but I decided that I was going to give Jason every possible opportunity. I really am not interested in changing quarterbacks this week, but we need to have better play at that position. In the last three weeks, the coverages have been tighter, our wide receivers are getting pressed hard, and the pressure on our quarterback has been significant. We gave up three sacks last night, but Jason was hurried and hit (after he released the ball) several times."
On wide receiver Bobby Wade:
"We tried to get the ball to him last night as many times as we could, but they pressed him hard and didn't let him get off the line of scrimmage very much."
On the option play with Clarence Farmer:
"The option has a good change-up play for us, and it should not be a high-risk play as it has been. Clarence (Farmer) has had two that he has bounced, so we are first going to work on spending some more time with Clarence this week."
On Arizona's preparation for Washington:
"We have a lot of things to do. We have to be sure that we can get the guys working on the things that we feel they can have some success with because we have not had a lot of success in the last three weeks. We need to hammer out some things and build around that."
On the injury report:
"We came out of the game in decent shape, and there really isn't anything that we feel is a real danger right now for the rest of the week. We're hoping that Austin Uku might be able to get back and do some things this week, and Eli Wnek might be able to work himself back in this week. John Vorsheck hopefully will be able to do some things with the offensive line this week, as well. Joe Siofele will not be back for some time."
