Patrick commits, hopes teammates do as well

Players don't usually commit a few days before their visits, but that is exactly what Dominic Patrick did. The defensive back is visiting Tucson for the first time this weekend and he has already decided that Arizona is the school for him. Now if he can just convince a few teammates...

Patrick is a standout at safety from Houston, TX, who will either play safety or line backer in college. In a mildly surprising move he pulled the trigger to Arizona the other day. Although his visit is not until this weekend, he decided that he wanted to be a Wildcat.

"I really like the coaches," Patrick confessed. "I think I will really like it there. I think I can really help build something there."

Patrick won't be alone when he visits, two teammates from Klein Forest will be making the trip with him. Wide receiver Bobby McCoy and defensive lineman McCollins Umeh will be tripping as well.

They aren't a package deal, but they have discussed the possibility of both being Wildcats.

"We've talked about it," Patrick confessed. "It's coming down to Arizona and Arkansas. I don't really know what he is thinking. He's a real quiet guy."

Umeh is the bigger surprise. The highly rated lineman has already committed to Kansas State but is now visiting Tucson as well. Patrick doesn't know how firm the commitment is, but he doesn't feel that getting Umeh to change his mind will be an easy task.

"He's coming," Patrick said. "I'm not sure what he'll do. It will probably take a great visit to make him change his mind."

Although Patrick is sold on the Wildcats, he is very curious about the Arizona experience. Having never been to the school, he's very curious about how he'll mesh with the team and the community.

"I just want to get a feel for the place and the guys," Patrick said.
