Brandon Roy narrows his list

Brandon Roy has dropped two schools from his list and narrowed his choices to four. Roy went on to tell me his favorite and listed the schools in order of his preferrence.

Roy, the 6-6 wing from Seattle (Garfield ), Wash., took the ACT test back on Sept. 29 and has been waiting patiently for the results. Roy received his ACT test score just the other day and said he's ready to start taking his official visits. NCAA rules state that an ACT or SAT score must be posted before a player can take official campus visits. "I haven't set up any visits yet," Roy said. "But Lou (Hudson) said I might be going to Arizona or Gonzaga next weekend." Hudson coaches Roy's AAU team during the summer and has been a mentor to many players from the Seattle Area including Michael Dickerson and Jason Terry. Roy has pared his list of schools to four. "I told Boston College and Washington State that I wanted to shorten my list," Roy said. Arizona, Washington, Gonzaga and Oregon are the four schools remaining. "Arizona is probably number one," Roy said. "But I really like Washington. Oregon is third and Gonzaga #4. Roy said he likes Arizona because it's an elite-level program and Washington is attractive because he has a lot of friends on the team. Roy's mother recently told me that Brandon might wait until the spring before making a decision, but apparently that's changed. "If she told you that, she's changed her mind," Roy said. "I'm definitely going to sign in November."
