Basketball recruiting update

It's coming down to the wire.
One Arizona prospect is likely to make a decision this week, another should announce within the next couple of weeks.
If one or both players shun the Wildcats, the Arizona coaching staff will probably turn up the heat on two others.

Andre Iguodala made the last of his four visits when toured the Arkansas campus last weekend. Earlier Iguadala visited Boston College, Arizona and Kansas. Personally, I believe Iguodala will choose Arkansas or Kansas with the Razorbacks being the favorite.

Hassan Adams, who visited Cal last weekend, has said he will take his final official campus visit to UCLA Nov. 10. According to informed sources, Adams trip to Cal was not impressive. In fact, he left the Berkeley campus a day earlier than scheduled.

Adams and his mother Connie have also indicated they might make a return trip to Tucson this weekend and take in the Wildcat's exhibition game against the EA Sports All-Stars on Sunday Nov. 4.

Although there are those who might disagree, I firmly believe Adams is all but committed to Arizona and is only making the trek to UCLA because he promised his mother he would take all five visits before announcing his decision. Adams has visited Kansas, Oregon, Arizona and Cal already.

If Iguodala in fact chooses Arkansas or Kansas, I would not be surprised to see the Arizona coaching staff make a more concerted effort to go after Brandon Roy, a 6-5 wing from Seattle (Garfield), Wash., or Reggie Butler, a 6-5 wing from Long Beach (Poly), Calif.

Roy and Butler are somewhat challenged academically and neither is qualified as yet. However, if they qualify, both are great athletes and would bring a lot the Arizona program.

Roy can shoot the three and he has the ball skills to create his own shot. He's also a good rebounder from the perimeter. Butler is not a great shooter but he's lightning quick, a very good defender and he jump out of the gym.
