Iguodala named to Wooden List

University of Arizona men's basketball player Andre Iguodala was named to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 30 list, it was announced Monday by the award's national midseason selection committee.

Iguodala, a 6-foot-6 forward from Springfield, Ill., is among 30 candidates in contention for college basketball player-of-the-year honors. The sophomore leads Arizona with per game averages of 8.6 rebounds and 5.4 assists, while ranking second on the club in scoring (12.6 ppg) and second in steals (1.6 spg).

A starter in all 16 games to date, Iguodala is shooting 49.3 percent from the field (69-of-140) and has three double-doubles and two triple-doubles to his credit. He ranks among the Pacific-10 Conference leaders in scoring (12.6 ppg/16th), rebounding (8.6 rpg/3rd), assists (5.4 apg/2nd), steals (1.6 spg/9th) and assist:turnover ratio (2.17/4th).

It is the first time in Iguodala's career that he has been recognized by the Wooden Award selection committee. The 10-member Wooden Award All-America team will be named on March 30. The winner of the Wooden Award will be introduced on April 10.

Currently ranked 9th nationally, Arizona has a 13-3 overall record (5-2 Pac-10). The Wildcats will next be in action on Thursday, Jan. 29, at Washington. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST and can be seen on Fox Sports Net Arizona.
