"Either one is fine with me," Traverso said in regards to which position he would like to play in college. "Whatever one gets me on the field."
The Wildcats are recruiting him at both positions. Traverso has already made a visit to Tucson and met with both defensive line coach Marty Long and tight ends coach Jay Boulware.
"I love the coaches," Traverso said. "I liked them a lot. They're real nice guys. Coach Long, coach Boulware and coach Mackovic, they are good guys."
Not only was Traverso impressed with the Wildcat coaches, but he really enjoyed Tucson.
"The whole town is a real college environment. Sacramento is not that kind of town. Here it's the Kings, and the colleges aren't real popular."
Even though he really enjoyed the visit, he isn't ready to proclaim the Cats as his favorite.
"They're right there," he said.
He's also considering Stanford, Florida, Illinois, Northwestern and Oregon. He said he won't be making a decision until after his season is over.
This has been a spectacular season for Traverso. In eight games he has 24 catches at 20-yards a pop and 6 touchdowns.
"I have the ability to control the line of scrimmage," he said of his offensive strengths. "I get down field pretty well."
He's been just as dominant on defense. Thus far he has 11 sacks, 45 tackles, 10 for loss and seven pass deflections.
"I getting to the quarterback," Traverso said of his defensive strengths. "I'm pretty quick which makes getting to the quarterback real easy."
