"It was a lot nicer than I expected," said Tavita of his UA visit. "Keoki Fraser was my host and he was a cool guy. He took me on the tour of the campus and introduced me to the other Polynesian boys. It was a good trip."
Tavita says that he dropped Colorado because of the current sex scandal the school is dealing with and will decide now between the Cats and Oregon State. Thompson visited OSU on the weekend of January 9th.
"Arizona has nicer facilities but I am not too sure about practicing in 110-degree weather in the summer. I like the weather better in Oregon. My family just got back from a Super Bowl party and now I am going to sit down and talk with them and will have my decision by tomorrow night."
Tavita says he does not care where he plays on the field.
"Defense is cool. A lot of people tell me that in the long run I will be an offensive tackle but I am fine with playing defense. I don't care where I play. If the coaches asked me to drop 100 pounds and be a free safety I would do it."
Thompson was first team all-state this year by both the Honolulu Advisor and the Star-Bulletin.
He is being recruited to UA by Coach Tuiasosopo.
Tavita carries a 3.0 core GPA and scored a 1070 on his SAT. He would like to major in Kinesiology or Sports Psychology.
