2006 Focus: Christian Polk

The state of Arizona is starting to turn out some high major prospects. Deer Valley's Christian Polk could be another one in the class of 2006...

Christian Polk, 6-3 SO SG Glendale (Ariz.) Deer Valley, has the size and physical attributes to potentially become a very good prospect. He's got great length, good quickness and a fairly good outside shot. He needs to improve his handle and overall ball skills, but he's got a chance to be a high major prospect.

We spoke with Polk recently and asked him which schools have shown the most interest in him so far.

"UCLA and Arizona State," said Polk. "They both had coaches come out to my practice."

We asked Polk for a list of other schools that he'd be interested in and he replied, "pretty much all the Pac-10 schools."

When questioned about the issues he'd consider when choosing a school, Polk said, "the atmosphere at the school, the coaching -- I really want to build a relationship with a coach. After all, I'm going to be there four years."

Polk said he doesn't have a geographical preference. "It doesn't matter," said Polk.

We asked Polk if he had a favorite school growing up. "When I was younger, I liked North Carolina and Arizona," said Polk.

Polk told us that he currently has a 3.5 GPA.

CAT TRACKS' ANALYSIS: The Wildcat coaches are very aware of Polk, but Nic Wise aside, are not too worried about 2006 as of now. If the Cats need a shooting guard for that class, Polk looks to be at the top of the list at this time.
