Pickney averaged 21.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks to lead Arizona to a 3-0 start last week. The Cats capped the week with an upset win of defending national champion and 15th-ranked Notre Dame. For the week, Pickney shot 95.8 percent (23-of-24) from the free throw line and hit 57.1 percent (20-of-35) from the field. She has hit her last 22 consecutive free throws.
Gardner posted back-to-back 23-point nights in wins over Maryland and Florida. He was named the Most Outstanding Player at the IKON Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at New York's Madison Square Garden. Against the Longhorns in Austin, Tex., Gardner surpassed his career-high in scoring, garnering 28 points. He added six assists as well.
For the season, Gardner is shooting 22-of-42 (.524) from the field, 13-of-25 (.520) from three-point range and 17-of-20 (.850) from the free throw line.
In the season opener, an 81-77 win over Pepperdine, Pickney scored 12 points and pulled down six rebounds. Against defending WNIT champion Ohio State she posted a game-high 24 points and seven rebounds in the 90-76 Wildcat win.
In the the last second win over the Fighting Irish Pickney had a game-high 27 points, including the game winner. Pickney also had a team-high eight rebounds. She was a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line, helping the Cats to their 20-for-20 performance at the charity stripe.
The Player of the Week honor is the fourth of Pickney's career and the 24th all-time selection for the Arizona womwen's team. It is the first weekly award for Gardner, the 54th all-time honor for the Wildcat men.
