Marcus Williams adds a pair

It's not as if Marcus Williams didn't have a solid group of schools coming out of April, but the smooth Seattle Roosevelt swingman has watched a couple of former national champs toss their names into the mix in the past week.

Marcus Williams was hoping to have his recruitment wrapped up by the end of July, but now the Seattle native is pushing his timetable back.

``I'm going to make my decision in the fall," said the Roosevelt High smooth 6-6 ½, 195-pound senior swingman. "I was going to make it earlier, but I want to take all my visits at the same time so I can compare them. I'll take some of them in September and, hopefully, a few in August."

Williams still has UConn, Arizona and N.C. State among his top five. However, a couple of schools have recently been added to the mix. Maryland offered about a week ago and Michigan State called to express interest in the last few days.

Here's a rundown of what Williams had to say about each of his top choices at this time:

UConn: ``Dominating. They proved how good they were and had the No. 2 and No. 3 picks in the draft. You can't lose with that."

Arizona: ``Guards. They have really good guard play and they almost always end up making it in the league. Obviously, that's my goal."

Maryland: ``Tradition. They have a really strong tradition. I've been watching them since they had Steve Francis."

Michigan State: ``Aggressive. I like their style of play. They really hit the boards and get you prepared for the NBA."

N.C. State: ``Style of play. They go with four out and the guards really move the ball."

Williams will play at the adidas Superstar Camp in about 10 days and then travel with his Rotary Select team to the Final Score tournament and then to the adidas64 and the Best of Summer.

``I want to go out there and show everyone I can play," said Williams, who has a 2.7 GPA and scored a 1020 on the SAT. "But it's mostly for myself. I go out there to win. This is my last time on the circuit and winning is the main thing."
