Lineman has Cats in top three

OL/DL Jacob Hickman (6-4, 245, 5.1) of Bakersfield Centennial (CA) suffered a broken right leg during the Nike camp at Stanford. He had surgery shortly after his injury and does not expect to miss any of the season.

"I didn't like how indifferent USC was after I broke my leg," said Hickman. "I lost interest in them. They are only recruiting me a little bit. I didn't even send them the stuff back."

Jake's now says it's a tight three school race between Nebraska, UCLA and Arizona. All have offered. He also has offers from Arizona St, Washington, Colorado and Washington St.

"It's really too close to call. UCLA was my most recent visit so they may be on top. I like the coaching staff a lot, especially the strength and conditioning coach (E.J. Kreis). He's real intense and I like what he has to say. The facilities are also great. They just put in awesome new locker rooms.

"There really aren't many things between these schools right now. I haven't been to Nebraska yet. I'll be going there at the end of July for sure.

"I really like Coach Mike Stoops at Arizona. He's a good guy and they have new facilities. They have a new weight room which is real big.

"After I visit Nebraska I'm gonna make a pros and cons list of each school and try to narrow it down after that. I won't commit before the season, but it might be sometime in the fall or it could be near Signing Day."

Jake also has to decide which position he wants to play in college. Nebraska is recruiting him for OC and UCLA wants him strictly as a DL. Arizona has expressed interest in both DL/OL. "I've played both and I don't have a preference yet."
